Lots of Tottenham Hotspur fans flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts on a claim to emerge ahead of their Europa Conference League game on Thursday night.
It has been widely reported that Spurs are currently struggling due to a virus outbreak at Hotspur Way which is said to be affecting a number of the players and coaching staff.
Do you want Spurs to progress in the ECL?
Yes
No
However, it is believed their game on Thursday is unlikely to be postponed as it stands as the Lilywhites are only required to have 13 players available to play the game.
And in a further update on Tuesday afternoon, UEFA confirmed their expectations for Antonio Conte’s side to play their game on Thursday evening.
Prior to the current reports of eight players now returning positive tests for the virus and the weekend’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion being under threat, fans flocked to Twitter to voice their thoughts ahead of their European clash.
What did these Spurs fans have to say?
“Honestly, may be a blessing in disguise. Leaving the conference league will be great. Having cover to do that without getting bantered (will even if we win) adds benefit to the situation.”
“Play the ground staff !!! Get out of that embarrassment of a competition it’s Pathetic”
The reports claim if Spurs do not have 13 players including a goalkeeper from their A list for Thursday’s clash, then they must fulfil the fixture before 31st December.
However, with a game against Burnley already being postponed because of the wild northern weather, it seems some of these fans may embrace the potential of exiting the third-string European competition ahead of a busy festive schedule.
