Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to reports by Calciomercato that Antonio Conte is entering the race to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina in January.

It has been a positive start from the 52-year-old at Spurs, getting them to within touching distance of the Champions League places. Despite sitting seventh, there are currently just two points between them and fourth spot. The advantage for Conte is that his side have a game in hand on West Ham United, who currently occupy fourth.

There has been some recent bad luck around the club, as a viral outbreak over the past week has halted their season and preparations. That hasn’t stopped the club looking to the January transfer window, with Milenkovic a top target to reinforce their defence.

Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

The defender has shown how central he is to Fiorentina, playing 14 of their 17 Serie A games so far this season. He has also been capped 32 times for Serbia, bagging three goals in the process.

The 24 year old is 6 foot 5 and has used that height to good advantage, winning 2.9 aerial duels per league game during the current campaign. That is a better average than anyone in Tottenham’s squad, so Milenkovic could certainly bring a greater aerial presence at the back if he comes to north London.
