Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss the club’s plans for the upcoming January transfer window.

The Lilywhites have been able to find some form of late in the Premier League since the arrival of Antonio Conte as they sit just four points off the Champions League spots with three games in hand.

Do Spurs need a new striker?

And with the transfer window creeping up on the Lilywhites, Gold provided an insight on the funds which are expected to be made available for the Italian manager to spend next month.

However, it may not come to the satisfaction of many fans, as Gold believes there will not be a huge amount of money at Conte’s disposal to improve his options for the second half of the campaign.

Conte may not be best pleased with this news from Gold of his plans potentially being hampered, as it was reported that the Italian told Tottenham the four January signings he wanted when he joined the club.

With player sales an option to raise funds for the 52-year-old manager, Gold had the following to say on what Spurs fans could expect for next month’s transfer window:

“I was told that there’s not huge amounts of money to spend this January. Spurs will try and find what they can. Obviously, outgoings will help, but then, how much you get for outgoings is another thing right now.

“But we’ll see. I think, as was rightly pointed out, they were willing to spend on a striker in the summer, so there has to be some money available to juggle to do things. But I don’t think it’s a huge amount for the kind of huge rebuild that you would expect.”

TIF Thoughts on the January window at Spurs…

The Lilywhites have been incredibly underwhelming in front of goal this season. Although their defensive performances have improved under Conte, Spurs remain one of the lowest-scoring sides in the league.

Harry Kane’s lack of form is a big worry as the usually prolific talisman remains with just one league goal to his name for the 2021/22 campaign (via Transfermarkt).

We think Conte should be looking at adding to his options up top and increasing the opportunities the forward players get in front of goal.

However, as Gold suggests, this may leave Spurs inclined to sell in order to buy. Although, we think there are players at Spurs who could potentially benefit from a move away in January.

The likes of Harry Winks, Steven Bergwijn and Dele Alli could all make good options to sell given their lack of influence on the Spurs side in recent seasons, as well as making room in the squad for new arrivals.
