Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss the latest news regarding Fabio Paratici.

According to reports, the Tottenham director of football is under investigation over alleged financial corruption during his time at Juventus.

The Italian was appointed as the director of football back in the summer having ended his 11-year spell with the Old Lady, but it is said Spurs are too being investigated over the allegations.

Cristian Romero’s move to the Lilywhites over the summer has been thrown into question, with the Argentine previously playing for Juventus during Paratici’s spell. The Italian was involved in the deal for Romero’s switch to Atalanta from Juve and then on to Spurs.

With Paratici potentially being called to give evidence this month, Gold had the following to say on what he had heard from his sources at the club regarding the investigation.

“It’s mainly reports at the moment and as far as I’m aware, there’s nothing Tottenham really related. Tottenham haven’t done anything wrong or anything. And we have to see how that all plays out.

“It’s not something that Spurs are kind of commenting on. It’s not really something that I understand is being spoken about behind the scenes at Tottenham, either, it’s just at the moment, I think it’s very early days – we shall see what happens. It’s something to keep an eye on.”

TIF Thoughts on Paratici’s situation…

The addition of Romero seemed a great acquisition for Spurs considering the Argentine had been named as the Serie A Defender of the Year for last season.

Having previously worked with the centre-back, it is plausible to think Paratici played a big role in the deal to get the Argentine to join the north London club.

However, it now looks like this deal is at the centre of the investigation at a time where Spurs are looking to get themselves back on track after a poor couple of seasons.

After a year in which has seen a lot of turnaround at Spurs, with two new managers arriving in the space of a matter of months, we think this will be the last thing these fans will have hoped to read in the news.
