Luke Edwards has been speaking on the Newcastle Fans TV YouTube channel about the Magpies’ search for a director of football.

The Telegraph had reported that Newcastle currently have Michael Emenalo as the leading candidate to land the director of football role at St. James’ Park, although he has still not been put in place, despite that report coming out three weeks ago.

Will Newcastle be relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Emenalo has previous history of working in the Premier League in a high-up role as he used to be the technical director at Chelsea, during which he saw the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard arrive at the club, so he has an eye for some top young talent.

However, Edwards has dropped an intriguing claim on Newcastle’s hunt for a director of football.

“I think that’s all gone a little bit quiet, to be honest with you. I would expect it to be Emenalo, but I think they’re doing a thorough process again. There are a few causes for concern, but yeah, I think it’ll be Emenalo.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s director of football search…

It does not appear to be a foregone conclusion that Emenalo will arrive on Tyneside, as other candidates such as Luis Campos have been linked in the past, and given his achievements at both Lille and Monaco, he would surely be high up the list.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

With talk seemingly going quiet on the director of football front according to Edwards and the January transfer window coming up next month, the club’s new owners may have to speed things up if they are wanting to have someone in place to help Eddie Howe in the transfer market.
