Antonio Conte is approaching his first transfer window as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, providing him with a chance to bring in players that he wants for his squad.

So far he’s had to work with what he has had available to him, with January providing him with the first chance to add to what is already at the club.

Arturo Vidal, who has already tasted success with the 52-year-old at Inter Milan, has been touted to be on his way to Spurs, with reports claiming that he is eager to move on from the Serie A champions due to a lack of game-time.

Would Vidal be a good signing for Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Although the Chilean is familiar with Conte and his demands from their mutual time at the San Siro, these Spurs supporters weren’t exactly blown away with the transfer links to the 34-year-old.

How these Spurs fans reacted

“No please” @MuhammadNtim

“Spurs fans: Give Conte what he wants – Also Spurs fans: Noooo we don’t want him!” @thfcarter_16

“Nope, a constant liability of talking himself in to a red card.” @woodbridge_carl

“No thanks.” @samrockweezy

“Nah he’s too old now. Not the player he was.” @JeffersonFirth

“No no no no no. Old and a walking red card.” @Dingydunga

Evidently, Vidal is not wanted by some Spurs fans. However, given his age and that his current contract expires at the end of the season, you’d imagine that a deal could be done for a low fee.

The Chilean was part of Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan side which conquered Serie A last season, the 10th league title of his career having also been part of similar triumphs at Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

While some Spurs fans cited fears over Vidal’s discipline, with a total of 163 yellow cards and seven reds in a 600-match club career, he has been far from reckless this season. He has played 16 games for Inter in the league and Champions League in the current campaign, picking up just two bookings.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

He has also contributed two goals and three assists in those 16 games, not a bad return for a central midfield player. Given his wealth of experience, title-winning nous and potentially low-cost arrival, perhaps these Spurs fans are being harsh on Vidal.
