Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that Newcastle United are ‘definitely going to make a move’ for Jesse Lingard this January.

Last season, the Manchester United man spent some time on loan with West Ham United, where he impressed greatly, scoring nine goals in 16 games.

After returning to the Red Devils without really featuring this season – he has just 87 league minutes under his belt – it looks as though he will be leaving in the winter transfer window.

While West Ham would have been an obvious destination, Newcastle’s recent wealth has seen them become a realistic suitor for the 29-year-old.

Now, while talking on The West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUemployee explained how likely a transfer bid from the Magpies will be.

He said: “Lingard – Newcastle are definitely going to make a move for him. I’m pretty sure, from what I’ve heard.

“So it’s gonna be interesting, because obviously they’re going to be able to match any transfer fee or wage we [West Ham] offer him. It’s just gonna be how much he wants to join West Ham, now.”

TIF Thoughts on Jesse Lingard and Newcastle…

With Newcastle aiming to avoid relegation this season, a number of key transfers in January may well be required. As things stand, the Magpies sit in 19th spot in the league, three points from safety.

Lingard’s success at West Ham last season does prove that he can acclimatise to a new Premier League club quickly after arriving in the winter.

However, West Ham have their own ambitions which will have them aiming for Champions League football. Newcastle may have money on their side, but the Hammers already have an established relationship with the Man United man.

With all that in mind, this one could go either way.
