Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the performance of Isaac Hayden during their recent game in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s men came into the game with just one win in their past six games and desperately in need to pick up some points in their battle to stay in the division. It was always going to be a tough task though as they took on a Liverpool side fighting for the title and with only one loss to their name coming into the game.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

One player though who didn’t seem to be up to scratch on the night, at least according to the fans who were commenting on the game online, was the 26-year-old Hayden. The midfielder came in for some staunch criticism for his performance at Anfield, with many fans slamming him for his lack of ability on the ball:

“Hope Isaac Hayden gets a move down south for Christmas. Dreadful player that’s about a yard off the pace. He’s not much different to Longstaff in all honesty.”

“Hayden is so ponderous on the ball. Consistently trying to take two or three touches when he’s being pressed by Liverpool players.”
“Hayden looks completely uninterested. Ambling around”
“Hayden is having a Mare in midfield! He wants time on the ball which won’t happen!”
“Hayden is nowhere near good enough on the ball to play at this level”
“Is there a more limited player in this league than Hayden? He gives everything but is technically abject”

Whilst there is still plenty of time to go until the end of the season for Newcastle United to get themselves out of trouble, you feel that players like Hayden need to start picking their games up as soon as possible if Newcastle are set to have any decent chance of staying in the division this season.
