Newcastle United fans have been reacting to some behind-the-scenes news that has taken place at the club.
In a move that echoes their appointment of Graeme Jones in the early part of the year, Newcastle have made another in-season change to the head coach’s staff, as they have appointed performance analyst Mark Leyland from Liverpool.
According to a report from The Independent, Leyland’s job at St. James’ Park “is a hybrid between a coach and collating performance data in an effort to make sure the approach to analysis is streamlined from training sessions through to all match preparation”.
The news was relayed to Newcastle United fans by @NUFC360 for them to react to, where it led to a number of interesting responses, with some seemingly concerned that the club are making moves for the backroom rather than on the pitch:
“Can he put the ball in the onion bag?”
Will Newcastle be relegated?
Yes!
No!
Given Newcastle United’s place in the Premier League table, currently sitting 19th and with the joint-worst defence in the league in terms of goals conceded, they’ll need all the help that they can get in order to stay away from relegation trouble, so hopefully he can help bring some form of success to the club moving forward.
