Newcastle United’s transfer rumours are continuing to develop constantly, with Edin Dzeko the latest name touted with Tyneside.

We’ve already seen links to Anthony Martial as a new number nine, but it is the new links to the Dzeko that have the fans ecstatic.

Newcastle supporters flocked to Twitter to react to the news, shared by fan account NUFC360, with the Toon Army over the moon with the potential, even though they’re not convinced they have a chance of landing the Bosnian’s signature.

How the Newcastle fans reacted to Dzeko links

“I think Dzeko’s a great signing…” @IainBaj

“Dzeko would be an outstanding signing. We need a proper number nine.” @Sandancer1977

“Been saying Dzeko since the takeover, he’d be perfect!” @Cheewence

“I’d take Dzeko.” @NUFCK9E5

“Dzeko yes! And now for a defender…” @Dannyboy_785

“Not a hope in hell we’d get Edin Dzeko. He’s banging them in for Inter.” @TheMachine1981

Clearly, Dzeko is a name that would be welcomed with open arms at St James’ Park, a clinical number nine with an impressive record.

This season alone, the Bosnian marksman has 11 goals in 23 Serie A and Champions League games. He’s created four in those appearances too. He’s clearly been key to Inter who are currently at the Serie A summit and in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Can you name who scored the most league goals for Newcastle United in years gone by? Let's see if you can starting with 2020/21

He has plenty of experience in the Premier League after his spell with Manchester City. He won two league titles with City, scoring 50 Premier League goals in his time there, appearing 132 times. That’s a very impressive record when you think he was playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero for the majority of his time in Manchester.
