Newcastle United fans have been reacting to news that has emerged ahead of their upcoming game in the Premier League.
Newcastle are about to head into a critical part of their season. Currently sitting in the relegation zone, they need to pull out all the stops if they are to not only put up a fight against the drop, but also put themselves in a position to be an attractive proposition for the players that they are looking to sign in the January window.
Their next game sees them take on Manchester United this upcoming Monday, and the Premier League has revealed that Craig Pawson will be in charge of the game, with Peter Bankes in charge of VAR.
Pawson was the referee in charge of VAR when he decided not to award Newcastle a penalty in their recent clash with Manchester City when it looked obvious that Ederson had committed a foul on Ryan Fraser, so when the news was relayed to Newcastle fans on Twitter, it was no surprise to see plenty of anger coming from a section of the fanbase:
“Haha course he is”
Will Newcastle survive this season?
Yes!
No!
Given the way Newcastle have been treated recently by officials in general, with the club even going so far as to complain directly to those in charge about some of the decisions they believe they’ve been on the wrong end of recently, then perhaps you can understand why they aren’t too happy when it comes to the news about Pawson.
