Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss the latest transfer meeting at Hotspur Way.

The January transfer window is edging ever closer and Gold has revealed Antonio Conte has asked Daniel Levy for some extra time to review his Tottenham squad.

Conte took over in north London last month, but with a number of their games being postponed for various reasons, the 52-year-old has not had too many games to assess his squad.

Despite only being there for a matter of weeks, the situation at Spurs is looking promising under the Italian, as they remain unbeaten in the Premier League, having taken 11 points from a possible 15.

And due to injuries and the recent virus outbreak at Hotspur Way, Conte has been able to use a number of squad players who were suffering from a lack of game time, such as Dele Alli and Harry Winks.

Speaking on the transfer meeting, Gold had the following to say:

“I understanding in the coming days – well, he’s essentially said it himself – that Conte is going to talk to Fabio Paratici, Daniel Levy, I think Steve Hitchen would be involved as well as part of that transfer committee thing; he’s going to have a chat with them about his evaluation of his players and they’re going to talk about the January transfer window.

“All I understand is that they had a meeting a few weeks back with the same people involved, which is where Conte told them he wanted another month to properly evaluate his players.”

TIF Thoughts on Conte’s decision…

We think the result and performance against Liverpool will put a lot of trust in Conte from the fans given they were able to perform as well as they did with some of their usual starting XI missing for various reasons.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp unable to start, it provided Harry Winks and Dele Alli an opportunity to make a bid for a spot in Conte’s plans.

And we think the duo’s performances will have at least made Conte question whether they should be allowed to leave in January.

However, neither Winks nor Dele has played huge amounts of football recently, so it will be interesting to see if they feature much over the festive schedule ahead of the January market.
