A whole host of Newcastle United fans on Twitter are very happy to see their club being linked with a move for Jordan Veretout.

The French midfielder has been featuring quite often this season in Serie A under Jose Mourinho, but according to Foot Mercato, Newcastle are looking to make a move for Veretout in January.

Do Newcastle need to sign a striker?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Veretout may not be an unfamiliar name to some people as he previously spent a season with Aston Villa in the Premier League, although that did not end well as he tasted relegation, but with four goals and five assists this season in Serie A, he appears to have grown and developed into a solid midfielder.

A lot of Newcastle fans are buzzing on Twitter to be linked with Veretout.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“If true. This would be an unreal signing. He’s been class for Roma for the last 18 months.”

@jjNUFC

“Excellent player, massive Shelvey upgrade”

@jaander93

“Crazy how things change. Before when we had Ashley, any players we were rumoured to be in for you just ignored as you knew we were in for nobody. Now, anytime you see us rumoured to be after someone you know it’s a possibility that it’s true. Finally some hope.”

@tjf81

“Veretout is sensational! If we can land him for 30m or less would be an absolute blast!”

@SmartphoneWars_

“He wasnt bad for Villa tbf”

@DayleBarron

“His time at villa was long back and he’s a totally transformed player at Roma in the past two seasons. Far above any player we currently have and arguably Romas second most imp player currently. I would be shocked if they agree to sell him..”

@kotkarpratik

With midfielder Isaac Hayden having sustained an injury that has required an operation and will be out for several months, PIF and Eddie Howe may now be targeting a midfielder to first plug the gap left by Hayden, but one that will also improve the team at the same time.
