Newcastle United’s transfer rumour mill has been hectic since October when they became the richest club in the world after their takeover.

With January a matter of hours away, the transfer rumours for the Magpies seem to be evolving by the minute, and Serie A striker Andrea Belotti is being touted to switch Turin for Tyneside.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), the Italian is admired by those at Newcastle who are eyeing up a move for the forward.

NUFC360 on Twitter relayed the news to supporters, with them buzzing to see the links.

What the Newcastle fans said…

“Just what we need. A tank, with great work rate. Would fit perfect in the new pressing style. Always got goals in him. Smart move going after players that contracts are up in the summer.”

@TMaldal

“I’d take him if it’s true. He does have goals in him.”

@Firaz7

“Would love to see this happen.”

@Claytoon91

“Now this is what I want!”

@JoePerrett

“Absolutely lovely striker. Physical.”

@KieronVxu

“Be a great buy imo.”

@Roche1Mark

Evidently, this is a signing the Toon Army are eager to see, and one that is definitely possible with the forward’s contract expiring in the summer.

For all the elation, it hasn’t been a great season for Belotti by any means. He’s struggled with injuries, only managing to feature in nine Serie A games so far. In those appearances, there’s only been two goals and one assist, so he is clearly struggling for some form.

Which iconic boxer is a reported Newcastle fan?

Belotti played six times throughout Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign last summer, so although he was unable to register a goal or assist and missed for the Azzurri in the shootout against England, he clearly comes with pedigree that could be of use to Newcastle as they look to avoid the drop.
