Phil Hay has been speaking about what was said to Victor Orta by Leeds United fans last weekend after their late equaliser.

Leeds managed to rescue what could turn out to be a valuable point last weekend when Patrick Bamford netted a 95th-minute equaliser, although that appears to have come at a cost, with the striker having picked up another injury.

Will Leeds be relegated?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Given it was such a late goal to secure a point at home, fans were sent into a frenzy, but it was not just the supporters who went crazy, as director of football Victor Orta was seen shouting back at some Leeds fans when Bamford netted his goal.

Hay has revealed on The Phil Hay Show what aggravated Orta enough to see him respond to some fans.

“From what I was told, it [Orta’s reaction] was something to do with transfers, and people who were there said they overheard what was said, it was something to do with, ‘you’re going to have to sort this out in January’, something like that.

“I’m not exactly sure, but that seems to be the general idea.”

TIF Thoughts on Victor Orta…

Orta has been very much a hands-on and involved director of football since joining Leeds from Middlesbrough in 2017, as he has helped oversee their rise from the Championship into the Premier League and also helped bring in players such as Raphinha, Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier.

With some of the summer signings still yet to hit the ground running in the form of Daniel James and Junior Firpo, it’s no surprise to see some Leeds fans vent their frustrations at Orta, and the only way he may be able to sort this out is by backing Marcelo Bielsa in January and pulling out all the stops to get the right players, much like they failed to do with Lewis O’Brien and Conor Gallagher over the summer.
