Leeds United journalist Beren Cross has given his thoughts on Patrick Bamford and his injury situation ahead of their game this weekend.

Leeds are suffering some major issues both on and off the pitch right now. Not only are they on a terrible run with just one win in their last seven games since the start of November – including their 7-0 loss to Manchester City, which has seen them slide down to 16th in the table, but they also have a raft of injuries that have affected the squad.

One such injury has been to that of Bamford, who is currently suffering from a hamstring injury sustained in their recent game against Brentford, and speaking on a video for the Leeds United Live Facebook page, Cross discussed the forward’s injury.

He said that there was a chance that Bamford would be involved this coming weekend as Marcelo Bielsa’s men take on Arsenal at Elland Road, but couldn’t be 100% certain that he would make it back:

“Bamford is the one that we are hopeful will be a shorter issue and may well be in with a fighting chance of Saturday, but you know, it’s Wednesday morning now, that’s going to have to be a very, very quick turnaround for Bamford.”

TIF Thoughts on Beren Cross’ comments about Patrick Bamford and Leeds United…

Bamford’s recent injury came on his return from another spell out of the squad that he had whilst he was dealing with an ankle injury, and that should perhaps be the biggest indicator to Leeds United that he should sit their next game out.

Whilst Bamford is an important player in this Leeds side – he was their top scorer in the past two seasons and clearly someone that can play a role in getting them out of the slump that they’re in – the worst thing that Leeds could do is play him this week and risk him being injured for a spell once again.

In a ‘lose the battle, win the war’ kind of situation, they would be better off resting him for their next game to ensure he is back to 100% fitness for the upcoming set of fixtures over the Christmas period, where games will be coming thick and fast and he’ll need to be in the best shape that he can be.
