A number of Leeds United fans have reacted with great excitement after seeing footage of youngster Max Dean scoring in the FA Youth Cup.

Earlier this week, Leeds’ Under-18s began their cup campaign with a comfortable 4-1 win over Coventry City. Lui Bradbury put the Whites ahead in the 54th minute, and when Dean picked up the ball inside the opposition penalty box just seven minutes later, he dropped the shoulder with a quick stepover before firing the ball into the far corner.

He scored again in the latter stages of the game after Marley Wilson had headed in a third, but his first goal really seemed to capture the imagination of the Leeds fans.

Will Max Dean be a senior star at Leeds one day?

The club’s official Twitter account shared a replay of the finish online and the footage soon had many supporters purring.

Here’s what these Leeds fans said…

“Gonna be some player this lad.”
“Woah! What a goal Max Dean!”
“Something else that.”
“R u joking me with that?”
“Special player this lad.”
“He’s at it again.”

Still only 17 years of age, Dean certainly seems to have bucketloads of potential. Indeed, despite his tender years, he already has three goals in the Premier League 2 this season, and another in an EFL Trophy match (via Transfermarkt).

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

No doubt aware of his talent, Leeds opted to hand the teenager a first professional contract with the club earlier this year in March. That will keep him tied to the club until the summer of 2023.

Judging from his most recent display, these fans may well want him at the club much longer than that.
