A number of Sunderland fans have been left dismayed after hearing that striker Nathan Broadhead will be out for at least three months with a hamstring injury.
The Black Cats man picked up the issue while playing in their recent game against Arsenal. He had scored for his team in the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash but later came off injured as the Gunners cruised to a 5-1 victory.
The club’s official Twitter page shared the unfortunate update on social media, adding that the injury now leaves Broadhead’s season ‘in doubt’.
Upon hearing the information, a collection of worried Sunderland supporters expressed their distress online.
Here’s what these Sunderland fans said…
“Absolutely awful news. Get well soon Nathen. Hopefully we can strike a deal for next season.”
The injury comes at a terrible time for both club and player, as Broadhead was on a great run of form. Indeed, he had scored five goals in his last five League One outings – while also netting against Arsenal in the cup.
Will Nathan Broadhead's injury cost Sunderland promotion?
Yes
No
With the Black Cats pushing for promotion up to the Championship, currently sitting in second place following their win over Doncaster Rovers, this will certainly be a big blow to their season’s ambitions. At best, it looks like the striker may only play a handful of times in the remainder of the campaign.
