Lots of Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight after it emerged that James Forrest gave his match jersey from the club’s Scottish League Cup semi-final victory to Bertie Auld’s family.

A goal from Forrest proved enough for the Bhoys to secure their spot in the final of the competition following their 1-0 success over St. Johnstone.

The club announced the 30-year-old had donated his match-worn shirt to the Auld’s family after the club paid their tributes to the Lisbon Lion following his recent passing.

And Celtic fans flooded to the club’s tweet as they shared Forrest’s gesture, with many fans hailing the winger for his actions off the field following the semi-final victory.

What did these Celtic fans have to say about James Forrest’s gesture?

“What a gesture this. Class on and off the park is James.”

“Just when ye think ye canny love him anymore”
“Absolutely brilliant gesture jamesy”
“Forrest is a living, playing legend for the club. Should be appreciated while he is here.”
“I have something in my eye, again.”
“Brilliant”

Forrest has had a tricky start to the new campaign, with injury hindering his game time already this season as he has just 151 minutes of Scottish Premiership action to his name thus far (via Transfermarkt).

However, it is apparent this gesture from the winger went down well with the fans and it’s to no surprise given the legacy Auld leaves behind at Celtic Park.
