A lot of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest injury update to emerge ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s side clash this evening in the Europa League against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

According to Go Radio reporter Jo Hendry, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed striker Giorgos Giakoumakis will be unavailable for this evening’s clash against Bayer Leverkusen, while also confirming that the Hoops will also be without Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt for the European clash in Germany as they both recover from their respective injuries.

“I am not concerned whatsoever”

“To people who think us buying another striker in January is mental, I give you exhibit A of why it’s not mental”

“Luckily he’s rank rotten”

@HOdling

Postecoglou shared news of Giakoumakis’ latest injury prior to the Scottish League Cup semi-final win over St. Johnstone last week, claiming that he would be out for at least seven days. However, it now appears as if the injury the Greek striker sustained will keep him out for longer than initially anticipated.

Since signing for the Bhoys in the summer, Giakoumakis has had a difficult start to the campaign with just five appearances in the league in which he has scored on just one occasion (via Transfermarkt).

Hopefully, it isn’t serious and Giakoumakis can be back playing within the near future for Postecoglou’s side as the Hoops look to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from arch-rivals Rangers this campaign.

However, if the injury is one that keeps the 26-year-old out for an extended spell on the sidelines, questions may well be asked surrounding the signing of Giakoumakis following his £2.5m summer move Dutch second division side VVV-Venlo due to his injury record and inability to stay match-fit.
