Club insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that he expects West Ham United to potentially sign youngsters Callum Marshall and Leon Boyd during the January transfer market.

The talented teenage duo both currently play for Northern Irish outfit Linfield, and if they were to sign, they could likely go into the Hammers’ academy team instead of seeing any senior minutes in the immediate.

According to ExWHUemployee, at least one, and possibly both, will join the east London club in the near future, with West Ham currently ‘looking at’ each player.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “We’re looking at two players from Linfield, who are one of the better Northern Irish teams.

“One’s called Callum Marshall, he’s a Northern Irish player. He’s 17, turning 18 in a couple of weeks’ time. He’s a forward. So he is someone we’re looking for from Linfield.

“And another player from Linfield is called Leon Boyd, who’s a versatile forward. So those two, Callum Marshall and Leon Boyd – worth keeping an eye out for. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of them signs, possibly two.

“And there are also another couple of Irish youngsters that we are looking at as well that are highly rated.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham and their defenders…

Each man plays up front. Boyd recently scored for Northern Ireland’s Under-17s side, while Marshall made his club debut last October and netted his first senior goal shortly afterwards at the beginning of November.

While the teenagers might not seem like the most exciting transfer plans West Ham may have this winter, you can never quite know how signings such as these can work out.

Should West Ham have signed Divock Origi this winter?

No

No

After all, the Hammers did once sign a pair of relatively unknown youngsters once before in a transfer window. That duo was, of course, Argentina’s Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Despite that minor similarity in the deals, it would probably not be a wise move to make any further comparisons for now – especially before either player even joins the club!
