A whole host of Leeds United fans have been left gutted on Twitter following Ian Poveda’s latest injury.

The Spanish winger has been with Leeds United since 2020 when Marcelo Bielsa decided to bring him to the club as a free agent, although he’s still yet to start a Premier League game for the club, which ultimately saw him head out on loan this season.

Blackburn Rovers welcomed Poveda to Ewood Park on a season-long loan, but just as he was starting to pick up some form – having got a goal and an assist in his last two appearances – the winger has been struck down with a lengthy injury which will likely keep him out for the rest of the season, according to The Athletic.

Will Leeds be relegated?

A lot of Leeds fans on Twitter are devastated over this Poveda injury news.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

“Absolutely relentless this club with injuries”

@dzialowskimatt

“The Leeds injury curse transcends clubs.”

@ismiseliam

“Poor bloke, even our loan players are getting injuries. Are we cursed?”

@EarnshawDan

“Oh poor Little Ian. That’s awful for him. Such talent developing too.”

@madmidweeker

“Terrible news. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.”

@philthy50

“we are honestly cursed with injuries – it’s relentless”

@CharlieBurley_

“Dreadful news for him.”

@FinugeForever

Poveda arrived from Manchester City, so to be at such a club, he must’ve had promise early on in his career. However, Marcelo Bielsa has not been able to get it out of him or seen anything to show he’s good enough for the first team, hence why he was sent out on loan.

How this injury will affect his progress remains to be seen, but it seems as if these fans’ responses suggest they had high hopes for him to succeed.
