A whole host of Newcastle United fans are very happy on Twitter with Mike McGrath’s latest update concerning the squad.

Newcastle and their new owners were left with egg on their faces when number-one target Unai Emery rejected them, after he released a statement indicating his commitment to Villarreal.

Who would you rather as Newcastle manager?

Emery!

Emery!

Howe!

Howe!

Although, it is not all bad news, as they appear to have moved on swiftly, with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe set for more talks with the club, according to TalkSport. Telegraph journalist McGrath has claimed that the Newcastle players were told to arrive at the training ground for 2pm on Thursday afternoon instead of for their usual morning session.

This tweet was ended with an eyes emoji, which could signal that this is something significant, with players arriving later to meet a new manager potentially, and this is what seems to have got some Newcastle fans excited.

These Newcastle fans are ecstatic on Twitter with this latest claim.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“EDDIEEEE”

@RobertAllen97

“It’s happening”

@JSpence24

“If true, this definitely means something big has happened.”

@NINEnufc_9

“this is interesting”

@ToxicYeroc

“Eddie’s in town…….”

@MarcSarg76

“Howe coming up to meet them he’s hinting at”

Despite being rejected by Emery, it appears that the owners had a backup already lined up. As reported by David Ornstein, Howe was seen as the number two on the club’s managerial shortlist.

If he is appointed in enough time, his first game could come away to Brighton at 5.30pm on Saturday evening, followed by an international break which would hand him time to work with the squad.
