Newcastle United: Many fans buzzing over Ten Hag update

|

A whole host of Newcastle United fans are ecstatic on Twitter following links to Erik ten Hag and the demands it would take for him to leave the club.

The Magpies experienced their first game without both Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce when they travelled to Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon which saw them pick up their first point in the league since September 29 when they drew against Watford.

Who would you rather as Newcastle manager?

Fonseca!

Fonseca!

Ten Hag!

Ten Hag!

Paulo Fonseca has been hotly tipped to replace Bruce but now Ten Hag, along with Marc Overmars, has been linked with the job, however, he has previously stated that it would take an ‘extraordinary‘ offer to lure him away from Ajax but Newcastle could offer him that, given that Amanda Staveley has claimed the new owners want to win the league in the next 5-10 years.

A lot of Newcastle fans are delighted on Twitter with this latest update from Ten Hag.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“To bring the Ajax philosophy to us, it’s worth stupid money. We could be in the Championship, and we’d know, our structure is being built perfectly, the next 5 years for us, wowzer”

@Andy_11_

“This guy along with overmars would be unreal appointments”

@alloutgungho

“Richest club in world football is pretty extraordinary.”

@KeithAn84504963

“good job we’re filthy rich”

@DillonSwan07

“Hag and Overmars with Ajax as our feeder club ? Yes please, and no worries about FFP.”

@michael_bodys

“Triple his wages and give him a maxed out greggs loyalty card”

@PaulRees_

Over the summer, Ten Hag was being linked with the then-vacant Tottenham Hotspur managerial job, although in the end, he decided to sign a contract extension at Ajax and that appears to have been a wise decision given how well the Dutch side are doing compared to Spurs.

Ten Hag would be taking an almighty step down going from Ajax who are in the Champions League and challenging for league titles, to then trying to keep Newcastle away from the relegation zone, however, having the opportunity to possibly work with Overmars again could be a huge deciding factor.
