Keith Downie has been speaking on Newcastle Fans TV about the information he has regarding Michael Emenalo possibly joining the Magpies.

Newcastle are reportedly looking to appoint a director of football, and someone who has been linked with such a role by The Telegraph is Michael Emenalo.

Will Newcastle survive this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Magpies will be hoping that they can have someone in place to help Eddie Howe manoeuvre in the January transfer window, as some clubs are reportedly holding an ‘anyone but Newcastle’ policy when it comes to selling their players, so having someone savvy in the market could help get around that.

Downie, though, is not so confident that Emenalo will be arriving on Tyneside.

“I’ve had people coming up to me in the street and in town and stuff, non-stop and asking about him. I have to say, I don’t have that information that a couple of people have reported. I don’t like to knock anyone’s stories down, but I have to say that isn’t what I’m hearing.”

With Downie claiming that he’s not heard the same information regarding Emenalo, that could mean that a lot of the noise is coming from his side, instead of the club giving out confidence, but the lack of talk coming out of the club can mean they have learned their lesson from the Unai Emery situation.

There have been several other candidates linked with the high-up role on Tyneside, including Luis Campos, who masterminded Lille and Monaco’s triumphs over PSG in Ligue 1, and he would like to take the role if offered it, according to Tutto Mercato Web.

So although this claim may seem like a step backwards, there is still every hope an agreement can be reached at Newcastle in the near future.
