Plenty of Newcastle United fans have reacted strongly after hearing that rival Premier League clubs may adopt an ‘anyone but Newcastle’ policy when selling their players.
However, the club still languish in the relegation zone. And so, they may well look to spend big in January to help them avoid the drop.
Will Newcastle be able to sign rival Premier League players in January?
This may be harder to do as, according to The Telegraph, other teams in England’s top division are so opposed to the Saudi-led takeover that they may refuse to sell even their unwanted players to Newcastle.
The story was shared online by NUFC360 and it quickly drew a number of responses from supporters.
What did these Newcastle fans say?
“Odd behaviour, the jealousy is absolutely crazy.”
“Lool this is ridiculous.”
“These clubs scared.”
“This is surely nonsense? When Burnley turn down a £250m bid for Chris Wood in January I might start to believe it.”
It’s clear to see just how ridiculous these supporters find the story. The article does explain that the reasoning behind the proposed notion is that many clubs ‘are known to be concerned and worried by Newcastle’s spending power’. This is, of course, because Newcastle’s potential success could negatively impact their own teams in the future.
It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. With Newcastle joint-bottom of the league, they could certainly do with a new signing or two this January – though perhaps they will have to come from abroad.
