Lots of Newcastle United fans have vented their thoughts on Twitter at a post to emerge regarding the Tyneside’s options between the sticks.

Over the course of the 2021/22 campaign, Karl Darlow has played a prominent role in goal for the Magpies due to the long-term absence of Martin Dubravka.

Who should start on Saturday?

However, Darlow came under scrutiny on the weekend for his display against Brentford which saw the 31-year-old concede three times against Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

Ahead of the Toon’s trip to the Emirates Stadium on the weekend, journalist Miles Starforth has posted about how Eddie Howe’s has an important decision to make on who he plays in goal.

It emerged that Darlow’s shortcomings were exploited by Brentford last week – while Starforth argued that the debate over whether to select Dubravka has swung in favour of the Slovakia international now that he has had a full week under the Howe regime.

Toon fans flocked to share their reactions to Starforth’s theory.

What did these Newcastle fans have to say?

“It’s a big call but should be a difficult one, if a keeper is bang in form saving everything then I could understand leaving your No1 on the bench but the last few games Darlow has looked nervous and his shot stopping has been poor. Time to get Dubravka back in!”

“He has to change it. Darlow has cost us points IMO”
This should be the easiest call Howe has to make in his entire #nufc tenure. Darlow has been abysmal recently. Dubravka is the far superior keeper. There is no debate”
“Not a big decision at all, its a no brainer.”
“It’s not a big decision Karl Darlow can never play for this club again.”
“Simply a must”

The Toon remain just one of two clubs in the Premier League this season to remain without a single clean sheet to their name and having conceded the most goals (27) in the league alongside Norwich City.

And it is to little surprise these Toon fans want Dubravka back in the team given the dreadful start to the season they have made which has seen the Toon prove to be one of the worst defensive units in the league.
