Many Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter after news emerged linking the Tyneside club with a transfer raid on Serie A, with three top-flight talents earmarked as prime targets.

According to The Times, newly appointed Magpies manager Eddie Howe will aim to really bolster his squad during the upcoming January transfer window, targeting Dutch international star Stefan de Vrij and Croatian World Cup runner-up Marcelo Brozovic of Inter and Lazio’s Albanian ‘keeper Thomas Strakosha following the arrival of the new ownership at St. James’ Park.

Many Newcastle fans have subsequently taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts on links to the Serie A trio.

What did these Newcastle fans make of the latest transfer links?

 “Hope this is true. Martin Hardy also wrote this story, and he’s been pretty credible in the past”

@NUFCIrving1010

“Brozovic is a beast. Can’t see it happening, however it would be a perfect signing”

@GhostToon71

“No way Inter Milan will sell to us after failed PIF takeover”

@JamesBish78

“Brozovic is exactly what we need”

@Tbmv6

“Clearly you don’t know Brozovic very well then, he’s an absolute tank in the midfield. If they can get him that would be an unbelievable signing. De Vrij is a top centre half, you could get both for £50-£60 mil”

@Scotmartino1

“Whatever happened to other clubs not selling to us and them all Sticking together? Lol. Money talks as always”

@alirook

“Very interesting, given Martin Hardy’s links within the club. De Vrij and Brozovic are good players, though clearly older than I’d like us to target. Both very good on the ball and tidy passers. We have been linked with Strakosha for years, but I’m not sure about him…”

If signed, the Serie A trio would undoubtedly mark a real statement of intent as the Tyneside club and Saudi Arabian owners look to turn around their fortunes on the pitch and march up the league table.
