Eddie Howe named his first team as Newcastle United manager ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Brentford.

Howe decided to play Karl Darlow over Martin Dubravka, while Fabian Schar has come into the side to play as part of a back-five.

The side named will take on Brentford at St James’ Park this afternoon, with the Toon looking to get their first win of the season on the board to try and bridge the gap back to safety.

How the Newcastle fans reacted

“Omg at last” @SavMondo

“Yesssss” @NylidCod

“Finally no Hayden!!” @JDF1892

“SIUUU” @Callumtroy97

“Darlow and Clark, oh dear!” @AlexJLWright

“Where’s Dubravka man?!” @cam_nufc

“What do we have to do to escape Ciaran Clark?” @jchaytor16

“This can’t be another five at the back man!” @Leonbrowny

“Hahaha where’s the real line-up?” @pete_quinn1

“Admin, that’s surely the wrong image.” @jac_talbot

Newcastle head into the game knowing it’s getting to must win territory already. They’ve already got a major blow to deal with before kick-off. Howe tested positive for Covid 19 on Friday so has to self-isolate. The new manager will be missing the game this afternoon along with training this week.

Nothing other than three points will do for the Newcastle fans, as fellow strugglers Norwich were able to pick up their first win last time out against today’s opposition.

Has Howe got the team right to beat Brentford? Who would you have picked?
