Celtic fans have been reacting to comments made about forward Albian Ajeti following his start to the season.

Whilst the Swiss forward has managed to get on the scoresheet a few times this season, his performances certainly leave a lot to be desired. For instance, he only touched the ball four times during his recent substitute appearance against Bayer Leverkusen (via WhoScored).

His performances were recently commented on by former English Premier League forward Kevin Phillips as he, speaking in an interview with Football Insider, criticised the 24-year-old for an apparent lack of effort:

“It’s hard. I’ve been there where I’ve come off the bench and haven’t touched the ball.

“They were playing against a side, getting a bit of a doing. All you ask from a player, when you are 2-0 down, is to run around and try. Put yourself about. If you’re being accused of that, he’s got a bit of history, then come on and run around. Make yourself available, don’t go hiding.

“From the outside, four touches in 17 minutes, it isn’t good enough.”

His comments were then relayed to fans on the Celtic Insider Facebook page for them to react to, where the anger appeared to continue, with many slating him for his output during his time at the club:

Having scored just nine goals since he moved to the club, it’s not as if he is scoring enough to make up for his apparent lack of effort, so he’s going to have to improve on one of those areas moving forward, otherwise Celtic might have to look at moving him on in the transfer market.
