A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted with anger after Ben Davies gave an interview after the club’s recent poor performance.

In their last Europa Conference League match, Spurs fell to a humiliating 1-0 defeat against Eredivisie outfit Vitesse. A second-half strike by Maximilian Wittek was enough to see Tottenham lose the match and drop to third in their group.

After the game, Davies spoke to the press, saying: “Our fans tonight – to travel out here in the circumstances – it’s tough. We’re really grateful for the support, they were top class.”

Will Ben Davies be at Spurs next season?

Yes

No

The clip was shared by the club’s official Twitter account, but his words soon drew some negative responses from the Tottenham fanbase.

What did these Spurs fans say?

“Should refund every fan after dropping a performance like that.”

“The fact the players & manager are thanking the fans for travelling tells you all you need to know. If you’d have given just 10% effort you wouldn’t have needed too. If you don’t make another appearance this season you really can’t complain. Shamed our club last night.”
“Davies should refund the fans on his own just for that pathetic defending of the cross that led to the goal. Abysmal.”
“Should’ve been out of our club years ago yet somehow he had the captains armband tonight?”

“Please buy out your contract.”

“Bro.. just terminate your contract”
“Leave the club”
“But none of the players went over to them, back your words up captain.”

It doesn’t seem as if these fans are particularly satisfied with Davies attempt to praise them. Judging by the comments, they’d rather him show his appreciation with a good performance on the pitch instead of simply offering up platitudes after a poor outing.
