A whole host of Newcastle United fans are delighted on Twitter to read Craig Hope’s update on Joe Willock’s injury.

The midfielder picked up an injury before the Magpies travelled to face Watford, only for him to appear in the starting lineup and play 83 minutes at Vicarage Road. And despite starting away to Wolves last Saturday, the midfielder could only complete 36 minutes this time around before going off injured.

Has Willock been worth the money?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The only senior summer signing on Tyneside is yet to hit the high expectations he set during his loan spell last season, although that was arguably expected as his run of seven goals in seven games was absurd. But with clubs now in the midst of another international break, Willock may be able to return for Newcastle’s next match against Tottenham Hotspur, according to Hope.

A lot of Newcastle fans are buzzing on Twitter following Hope’s latest update.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“YESSSSSSS”

@MichaelNUFC_

“Just needs to get his form back to last seasons , top player”

@dave6869

“Willock fit, just a knock. Thank the Lord.”

@ToonMouthTyne

“Thank god for that Craig, just need the rest back now”

@ataylor1892

“Willock, Wilson and Dubrovnik fit for Spurs. You know it’ll be our only win before January”

@JamesHunt07

“Run it off jow lad”

@sherburnvillag1

Willock has started all but one game for Newcastle in the league this season, but the former Arsenal man has been unable to help his new club pick up their first three points of the campaign – a stark contrast to last season, when Willock only featured in four defeats as a Newcastle player.

The international break may have arrived at the perfect time for Steve Bruce, who needs to turn the club’s form around quickly to stop the Magpies drifting further away from safety, but it appears that Newcastle fans have already made up their mind on the manager, with the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust posting their latest poll results, in which 94.3% of all members want to see Bruce leave the club.

So Willock’s comeback may only provide momentary respite for these fans desperate for a victory.
