A whole host of Newcastle United fans are furious on Twitter following Jonas Gutierrez’s fresh claim about Mike Ashley.

The former Argentine winger spent nine years on Tyneside which saw him experience one relegation, one Championship title-winning season as well as a campaign in the Europa League but was eventually released after he scored the goal to keep Newcastle in the Premier League against West Ham on the final day of the 2014/15 season.

Who would you rather as Newcastle manager?

Fonseca!

Ten Hag!

Gutierrez famously battled back very bravely from testicular cancer to help the Magpies in their Premier League campaign, with his celebration against the Hammers being one against the club’s former owner Ashley and it’s easy to see why as the winger claims the old ownership ‘didn’t see you as a person‘ during his time on Tyneside.

A lot of Newcastle fans on Twitter have shown their support towards Gutierrez while being annoyed with Ashley.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

@elgalgojonas will always be one of us, and he’ll receive a (deserved) heroes welcome when he comes back to St James’ Park.”

@munky_drunky

“The fact that this was massively overlooked by the countries media at the time is absolutely criminal… And was criminal But often forgotton”

@ThePhyll13

“When they start removing the Sports Direct signs from the stadium, we should invite Jonas over to remove the first one with a crowbar.”

@GJ_1892

So much love for @elgalgojonas You don’t have to be our greatest ever player to be a toon legend. We need more players with his attitude towards our club.”

@prettypinkwitch

“What Ashley done was disgusting no one deserves that can’t wait to see u back at SJP”

@DavidTa41816701

“Get Jonas on the staff! Get him in the youth set up. You could always see the joy on his face when he played.”

@Thenewmatthew

Gutierrez, once he left the Magpies, took the club to court for the way they treated him and that he was not handed appearances so that a new contract would not be triggered by the midfielder and he ultimately won the court battle.

Even though Ashley no longer owns Newcastle and has no say in what happens anymore, things like this will always linger around the club and ensure that what he did on Tyneside is never forgotten.
