The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds United winger Raphinha should be back to start ahead of the trip to Wolves this afternoon.
The Brazilian star was superb for Brazil during the recent international break, netting twice on his full debut in Selecao’s 4-1 World Cup qualifying fixture against Uruguay, but did not feature during the Whites 1-0 defeat against Southampton last week.
However, writing in his matchday discussion for The Athletic this morning, Phil Hay revealed that the Brazilian star is now set so start against Bruno Lage’s side this afternoon a Elland Road. Marcelo Bielsa side will be looking to secure a vital three points and really kickstart their season, although they will still be without the likes of key players Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Robin Koch who are all absent through inury.
Will Leeds beat Wolves?YesNo |
“We’re expecting Raphinha to start against Wolves but if Bielsa sticks to what he said on Thursday, there’ll be no Kalvin Phillips or not in the starting line-up anyway. Bamford, Firpo, Koch and Ayling are all still out”, Hay wrote in his matchday discussion.
What did these Leeds fans make of Phil Hay’s Raphinha update?
“You lied to me when we met you last time in Southampton about Phillips Phil……not sure I can be hurt again about Raph. Need a result today!”
“Northbound, Leeds. Looking forward to Raphinha running that pack of Wolves ragged”
“Looking forward to Elland Road tomorrow. We’re playing Wolves who are in form. Jimenez and Hwang are dangerous together. I can see another Raphinha masterclass. But will no Phillips really hurt us…hopefully not, come on Leeds!”
“Well as long as Phillips & Raphina in the squad. Then the vibes will be at the max . Until Roberts comes on . Leeds fans don’t rate him”
“3-1 win Rodrigo 2 goals Raphinha 1 goal”
Saturday’s game is simply a must win for Bielsa’s men, while a draw or a defeat will only raise further question marks about their start to the season.
