Former Leeds United player David Norris believes that Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t fully trust Tyler Roberts.

In their first season back in the Premier League last campaign, Roberts featured 28 times for the first team in the league and Carabao Cup, scoring one goal and providing two assists, and also played in Premier League 2 where he scored four goals and provided two assists.

During this campaign, the 22-year-old has started both of Leeds’ Carabao Cup matches against Crewe and Fulham, whilst in their opening seven fixtures in the league prior to the international break, he featured from the substitutes’ bench.

Should Roberts be a regular starter for Leeds?

Norris doesn’t believe that Bielsa fully trusts him, telling This is Futbol: “Maybe Bielsa doesn’t fully trust him and he needs to be one of those players that’s going to have to play well every single game. So, I think he’s been a little bit unfairly treated in that he’s not had the consistent run of some of the others.”

As well as playing as a centre-forward, Roberts has also featured as an attacking midfielder, right and left winger and second striker during his career showing he can operate in a number of different positions.

Following Leeds’ victory against Watford, manager Marcelo Bielsa spoke to Leeds Live about Roberts, telling them: “He still hasn’t been able to link his qualities with his performances, I in particular have a lot of confidence in his resources.”
