Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield feels that teams no longer fear coming up against Ruben Neves.

The 24-year-old midfielder has made over 180 appearances for Wolves since joining them in the 2017/2018 campaign showing he is an integral part of the squad.

Predominantly operating as a defensive midfielder, Neves has also played a number of games as a central midfielder and made one appearance in the attacking midfield role.

Despite his winner against Aston Villa, Hatfield doesn’t believe that teams fear coming up against the Portugal international now, though, telling This is Futbol: “He was a player who teams feared when they initially saw Wolves get up and now, I don’t think too many teams look at him and think he’s too much of a worry other than maybe the odd set piece.”

During the summer Manchester United were linked with Neves, as per The Independent.

Former Wolves player Dave Edwards was delighted to see Neves stay at Molineux beyond the August 31 deadline, telling the Express & Star“It’s great to see Ruben Neves still at the club, I think he’s been getting better every season.”

Whilst retaining Neves, Lage also added to his squad this summer with Hwang Hee-chan, Jose Sa, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Yerson Mosquera, Louie Moulden and Francisco Trincao all putting pen to paper on deals at Molineux.
