Former Leeds United player David Norris believes that Marcelo Bielsa can turn Tyler Roberts into a star player as he has done with Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford.

The 22-year-old has made 94 appearances for Leeds, scoring eight goals and registering nine assists, which takes his career total to 190 appearances, scoring 29 goals and 22 assists.

Roberts has appeared in all of Leeds’ Premier League squads so far this season, making one start and eight substitute appearances, as well as starting in all of the club’s Carabao Cup matches also.

Whilst he is yet to find the back of the net so far this term, Norris believes that Bielsa can turn Roberts into another Phillips or Bamford, saying to TIF: “Yeah, I think he can. I mean I like him, and I think he can be one of those players rather than you know, just fade out.”

Under Bielsa, Leeds have been promoted from the Championship back to the Premier League and in their first campaign back in the top flight, they enjoyed a top ten finish with some players going on to play in Euro 2020.

One of them was Phillips, who is a key player for Leeds having made over 200 appearances for the Whites, and he also became an important figure for the Three Lions during the summer as Gareth Southgate selected him alongside Declan Rice, with the duo forming a partnership that helped England to reach the final.
