Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has urged Cameron Archer to remain at Aston Villa and continue his development there.

The 20-year-old Villa product has made a real name for himself this season following his heroics in the Carabao Cup.

He managed to grab a hat-trick in Villa’s 6-0 thrashing of Barrow in the second round of the competition before scoring a bullet header against European champions Chelsea the round after.

Should Archer remain at Villa?

He has to!

He has to!

No

No

According to Football Insider, Archer has been attracting interest in the Premier League and abroad, but Palmer has warned the young striker he is better off staying at Villa Park.

“For sure, especially under somebody like Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare,” the ex-Leeds United star said to TIF when asked if Archer should stay put. “But again, this is the game. It’s dictated by agents and money and not the reality of what is actually best for the player.

“For me, there’s no doubt he should be staying where he is, but we’ll see how that unfolds.”

Archer is getting minutes right now, even coming off the bench in that recent 1-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Smith evidently trusts him, so the English youngster continuing his development at Villa looks like the wisest decision.
