Newcastle United journalist Liam Kennedy has been sharing his thoughts on Toon manager Steve Bruce and his current situation at the Tyneside club.

This comes after Kennedy made an appearance on a recent edition of NUFC Matters on Steve Wraith’s YouTube channel, where he spoke about a variety of subjects concerning the Magpies.

On the subject of Bruce, who has been under scrutiny as a result of Newcastle’s poor start to the season in terms of their results, Kennedy had this to say on the possibility of him leaving the club, after doubting the possibility of the manager being dismissed by Mike Ashley.

He said: “The caveat that I would say that could change things is whether Steve Bruce has had enough.

“I would suspect that point is more likely to come quicker than Mike Ashley pulling the plug.”

TIF Thoughts on Liam Kennedy’s comments on Bruce and the possibility of him leaving Newcastle…

Bruce was appointed as Newcastle’s manager back in July 2019 and has since gone on to take charge of 94 games with the Toon across all competitions in which they have won 29, drawn 24 and lost 41 along the way.

Taking into account what Kennedy had to say, it seems as though Bruce’s position at Newcastle and how long he stays in his post is more in his own hands than it is in Ashley’s, which does suggest to us that the owner may not be too concerned about the job Bruce is doing there enough to remove him.

Do you think Bruce should walk away from Newcastle?

No

In our view, with Newcastle having only managed to pick up two points from their opening five league games of the season, perhaps Ashley should take it upon himself to sack Bruce – or Bruce should recognise that he may not be the right person to take the club forward if he can’t turn their fortunes around in the next few weeks.

However, with Bruce recently insisting he won’t walk away from his position at St. James’ Park, it seems as though the fans will have to get used to him being in charge for the time being.
