A number of Celtic fans have expressed their frustration after the club announced Lee O’Connor would be re-joining Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international initially joined the Bhoys on a four-year deal from Manchester United back in September 2019.
Since then, the right-back has not been able to make much of an impression in Glasgow and is still yet to feature for the senior team.
The club’s official Twitter page shared the news and it didn’t take long before a collection of Celtic supporters vented their frustration with the information.
Here’s what these Celtic fans had to say…
“Shocking decision should’ve been given a chance.”
It’s clear that part of the annoyance for these Celtic fans is that they feel as if their squad is already thin enough without this departure.
However, with Anthony Ralston and new man Josip Juranovic as the two key options at right-back, the club must believe they have enough cover in that particular position already and O’Connor is best off playing elsewhere once again this season.
Regardless of that, so late in the transfer market, these supporters were apparently hoping for some incomings rather than an outgoing. Perhaps there could still be time to delight the fans, but time is fast running out.
