Transfer insider Dean Jones has provided West Ham fans with an update regarding the future of one of the club’s star players.

There have been plenty of rumours in the past linking Declan Rice with a move to Chelsea. However, it seems as if this move will not happen in the current transfer window.

While speaking on The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show, Jones explained that Chelsea are interested in the player, but have had to target more pressing business instead.

Jones said: “The feeling now is that Declan Rice is staying at West Ham for the season, and that’s because there just hasn’t been time to get that going.

“Chelsea have just not been able to move forward with it. Not that they’re not interested, it’s just that they’ve had to prioritise other things right now.”

TIF Thoughts on Declan Rice and West Ham…

Rice, of course, came through the Chelsea academy and so it makes a lot of sense for him to be linked with a move back to the club that helped shape him.

And after seeing their star man enjoy a strong Euro 2020 campaign, West Ham fans would have likely been fearing an exit was on the cards for Rice.

However, most Hammers will probably be very relieved to hear that the midfielder is set to stick around at the club for a little while longer at the very least.

Rice was pivotal to the club last season, playing 32 league games as West Ham qualified for the Europa League group stages for the very first time after finishing sixth.
