Fabrizio Romano has been speaking all things transfer related on Sky Sports News with Tottenham Hotspur’s summer spending a topic of discussion.

The transfer insider believes Spurs are currently targetting a new midfielder in the remaining weeks of this summer’s transfer window.

And Romano has revealed the north London club have been in contact with Serie A side Cagliari for the services of Nahitan Nandez.

Although the Italian believes talks between the two clubs have begun, he has reported there has been no bid made yet for the 25-year-old.

Discussing the areas in which Spurs are looking to strengthen in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window, Romano had the following to say on their interest in the £19.8m-rated ace:

They are also looking for a midfielder. They had some contact with Cagliari for Nahitan Nandez, Uruguayan midfielder, interesting player. Inter wanted him before signing Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven.”

TIF Thoughts on Nandez to Spurs…

In Tottenham’s impressive victory over Manchester City on the weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo started the game with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp in central midfield.

Nandez should bring versatility to the Spurs squad if he was to join, with the Uruguayan able to play in a number of midfield roles including central midfield and out wide on the right.

The 25-year-old has played a big role for the Serie A side over the last two seasons, with over 30 appearances in both campaigns across a number of positions (via Transfermarkt).

With Spurs potentially playing in the Europa Conference League group stages this season, we think Nandez’s versatility in midfield could be used as a big advantage to Nuno’s side, especially with Moussa Sissoko’s future in the air.
