A whole host of Tottenham Hotspur fans were left fuming with Japhet Tanganga’s first-half performance.
Tanganga was handed the task of trying to keep Adama Traore quiet during their match against Wolves, which saw Dele Alli put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot.
Tanganaga cut a frustrated figure in the first half which ended in the defender picking up a yellow card for a reckless foul on Wolves wing-back Marcal.
Do Tottenham need to sign another CB this summer?
Many Spurs fans were not happy on Twitter though with Tanganga’s performance.
What have these Spurs fans been saying?
“Tanganga is really struggling with Traore which says a lot about how Traore is playing. Sanchez is getting rolled by everyone. Something has to change. If this is our 11 for the season we will not get top 6”
“The entire point of Tanganga is that he’s unbeatable defensively. apart from that and some driving runs he does nothing”
“Lucas not having a good game, Tanganga getting mugged by Traore and Sanchez letting everyone run past him, good lord.”
“Probably the worst thing Tanganga could have done – no shirt pulls on Adama now”
“Good to see Japhet Tanganga turning into prime Serge Aurier this afternoon as well.”
“Tanganga can’t defend at all, just super-aggressive, 7 fouls already in 110 minutes? So unnecessary as well literally at the byline”
Tanganga was part of the Tottenham side that managed to keep Manchester City’s attack, which included the likes of Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling, quiet last week.
The 22-year old can operate as both a right-back and a centre back which offers Nuno Espirito Santo versatility when picking his starting lineup each week, but it seems that his first-half performance at Molineux has not impressed these Spurs fans.
