A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to share their delight at the latest injury news to emerge ahead of their Premier League opener on Sunday. 

Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed their new centre-back, Cristian Romero, has recovered from his knee injury and is in contention to play on the weekend, although he is not fully fit.

The Argentine centre-back picked up a knee ligament injury which saw him miss some of Argentina’s Copa America games despite playing in the final against Brazil (via Transfermarkt).

Romero only signed for Spurs last week, but it is clear these Spurs fans were left delighted at the idea he may be available for Sunday’s game after journalist Jonathan Veal relayed the information on Twitter.

Spurs kick-off their 2021/22 campaign with a clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City which could even see Harry Kane feature.

On paper, Spurs could not have been dealt with a more difficult opening game than against the current champions, however, they clearly feel Romero would provide them with an extra boost.
