Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest episode of The Phil Hay Show to discuss a potential incoming to the Yorkshire club this summer.

The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent believes Marcelo Bielsa’s side would be in the market for Manchester United’s Daniel James this summer if he was to become available.

It has been reported Devils would be willing to listen to offers for a number of players this summer, with the Welshman believed to be one of those in question.

Leeds have been one of the clubs linked with the 23-year-old this summer, with the Yorkshire club holding a long-standing interest in the player, according to Beren Cross.

Discussing how Raphinha’s signing came through the player spontaneously being made available, Hay had the following to say on how James may follow suit.

“That’s why in my head, I have never, ever ruled out Dan James. Because if suddenly Manchester United said, ‘look, you’re free to go’ – not free to go, they’d take money for him – but ‘you can leave if there’s another club out there who will take you’, then I think Leeds would be in the market for him, or at the very least, be tempted.”

TIF Thoughts on James’ future…

The Whites have been linked with a number of forwards this summer, with Matheus Cunha and Noa Lang two of the most heavily suggested.

However, we think James could make for an interesting addition if Leeds were able to secure a move for the Welshman.

James has not enjoyed a lot of game time at Old Trafford recently, so a move away for him could make a lot of sense, however, would Devils be willing to with their bitter rivals?

The former winger does have Premier League experience now, and maybe a move away could bring his career back to life.
