Newcastle United journalist Liam Kennedy has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Tyneside club potentially striking a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury before the end of the summer transfer window.

This comes after Kennedy made an appearance on a recent edition of NUFC Matters on Steve Wraith’s YouTube channel, where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the Magpies.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

On the subject of Choudhury, who has been linked with a move to St. James’ Park, Kennedy had this to say on the possibility of it happening in the coming days.

He said: “I think there is a possibility there.

“I think Hamza Choudhury is at the top of that list of people that they want to do business for.

“Steve Bruce is a big fan, it came really, really close to happening in January, and it was literally just a case of being signed off and the lad coming up, and Brendan Rodgers pulled the plug on it.

“It’s a shame, because look, I don’t think he’s the greatest Premier League player, but do I think he could improve Newcastle United’s side? Yes, I do, because I think there’s a lack of quality in certain areas in that midfield.

“I think he would be a decent signing and I do think it’s one that could be rekindled in the last week of the transfer window because Steve Bruce is a big fan.

“I’m not going to rule that one out.”

TIF Thoughts on Liam Kennedy’s comments on a potential deal for Choudhury at Newcastle…

Given how Choudhury only started four games in the Premier League last season for Leicester and is yet to make an appearance for them in the league this season, perhaps a move to Newcastle would be beneficial for the midfield man if he would be guaranteed regular playing time.

Do you think Newcastle should sign Choudhury?

No

Also, with Bruce recently saying that his team are currently a bit short in midfield with injuries impacting Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey, this could well push the club to secure the signing of Choudhury to help strengthen their midfield.

In our view, if Newcastle are able to strike either a loan deal or a potential permanent one with Leicester, then they should definitely try to get Choudhury in.
