Leeds United fans have been reacting to the performance of Diego Llorente during their Carabao Cup game against Crewe Alexandra.
Cup competitions haven’t been kind to Marcelo Bielsa during his time as Leeds boss, failing to get past the second round of the League Cup in all three of his seasons and not even registering a win in the FA Cup, either.
So perhaps in an attempt to reverse that hoodoo, the Argentinian put out a strong side to face the League One outfit, with many established players included.
And one of the players who was putting in a good performance during the opening exchanges was the Spanish defender, who was making his first appearance of the season and even though he is a defender, he was making his mark in the attacking phases.
Not only did he have an attempt of his cleared off the line, but noted Leeds journalist Phil Hay felt it necessary to praise him for his passing ability, and Leeds fans were all too happy to join in the praise:
“It’s absolutely effortless with him. Lovely to watch.”
Have you been impressed with Llorente?
Yes
No
Perhaps he can use this game as a way to send a message to Bielsa to select him for the league games in future.
