Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news to emerge concerning Toon goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

This comes after journalist Craig Hope shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying news originally revealed by Steve Bruce that Dubravka is expected to be sidelined for another eight weeks after he had surgery on his foot over the summer.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Toon supporters, who were quick to share their responses to this news.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this news about Dubravka?

“Unless Woodman becomes very good this is a devastating blow. This is during a run of must-win games. He will be back just in time for the run of hard games where points will be unlikely”

@Bengn87

“Massive blow this”

@MichaelMidd90

@MickP1964

“Not good news”

@ste71

“Everything is falling apart 2 weeks into the season. It’ll be a Christmas miracle if we stop up.”

@JamesOnTheMic1

“All the makings of a relegation season just 2 weeks in”

@JoeD_Nufc

Looking at the replies to this post from this group of Newcastle fans, it’s apparent that they are not happy to hear the news that Dubravka is set to spend another eight weeks on the sidelines through injury.

Is Martin Dubravka Newcastle's best goalkeeper?

No

Given how the shot-stopper ended the 2020/21 season as Newcastle’s joint third-highest-rated player with an overall rating of 6.84/10 for his performances in the Premier League alongside Callum Wilson according to WhoScored, it’s safe to say he is an important figure for the Magpies and makes it easy to see why these Toon fans are not happy with this latest news.

Moving forward, everyone at the club will undoubtedly be hoping that Freddie Woodman can do his best for the team while Dubravka recovers, despite him having already conceded six goals in two league games.
