Ligue 1 expert Adam White has told This Is Futbol that Manchester United have a “golden opportunity” to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga following Paris Saint-Germain’s capture of Lionel Messi.
Both clubs are said to be interested in signing the 18-year-old, with the MailOnline recently reporting on the two European powerhouses’ battle for his signature.
However, with PSG having to fork out on Messi’s wages following his move from Barcelona and possibly needing to sell players before bringing anyone else in, White believes United have a real opportunity to strike.
Where will Camavinga end up?
On the race to sign Camavinga, the Get French Football News writer said:
“For now, PSG do have to wait, so the opportunity is definitely there to sign Camavinga if they want to. There’s definitely a golden opportunity for Man United to sign him.”
According to French outlet Le Parisien (via Marca), PSG are trying to move on a host of players as they look to trim down their wage bill, so perhaps United could try to take advantage of that and make a serious play for Camavinga.
It is important to note, however, that the £49.5m-rated Frenchman has just one year left on his contract at Rennes. Considering that, it would not be a surprise if the Premier League outfit were against splashing out on someone who will be a free agent next summer.
