Former Everton star Michael Ball believes that it could be a mad last 10 days in the transfer market for all Premier League clubs, including the Toffees.

Ball’s former club have been active in the transfer window so far as they have completed the signings of Andros Townsend, Asmir Begovic and Demarai Gray. Both Townsend and Begovic arrived on Merseyside on free transfers, with the Toffees paying £1.6m for Gray, who joined from Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

Whilst many clubs would have been trying to do their business ahead of the big kick-off this weekend, Ball believes that there will be a late flurry of transfer activity at both Everton and all other Premier League clubs before August 31st.

He said: “I feel the way this summer’s going now, not just at Everton but at the majority of Premier League clubs, it could be a mad last ten days of the window.

“I feel people are waiting for some big players to move and that will be like a revolving door then where it will trigger a lot of transfers in and around the place.”

According to Eurosport there were twelve deadline day deals done by Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window of 2020, with Arsenal’s signing of Thomas Partey the biggest fee paid at £45m.

The total net spend of Premier League clubs on transfers by far eclipsed the other top five leagues in Europe, with £813m spent, which was £762m more than Ligue 1 in second place as they spent just £51m.

There has already been plenty of deals done by Premier League clubs, but there will always be the excitement of deadline day and which clubs are going into the market to strengthen their squad.
